The Blue Bead: Character Analysis
Characters

The main character of the story is Sibia.
Sibia is a twelve-year old girl and is described as a happy, immature child-woman. She belongs to an extremely poor family and is undernourished. But she does not regret her family's condition and accepts the fact that she needs to work hard.
What stands out about Sibia is her heroism and courage. She does not hesitate even for a moment before running forward to help the woman attacked by the crocodile. Thanks to her quick thinking and immediatel action, the woman's life is saved. She even drags the woman out of the river, dresses the woman's wounds and takes her to the camp.
Despite only knowing a life of poverty, Sibia is a dreamer. She dreams of adorning herself with the anklets, earrings, nose-rings and bangles that she had seen at a market. Even while gathering grass, she escapes into a dream world, imagining that she is flying over the sparkling river, and has to be brought back to reality by her mother.
