Abou Ben Adhem by Leigh Hunt:-The main character of the poem is Abou Ben Adhem.
The most striking feature of Ben Adhem's personality is his love for humankind. This is revealed through his own words to the angel. But the fact that his name is on the top of the list of those blessed by God reaffirms his compassionate nature.
Abou Ben Adhem is a simple and humble man. The manner in which he talks to the angel reveals this.
Abou Ben Adhem comes across as a righteous man. Because his heart is clear, he fears no one and is not flustered by the presence of an angel in his room. He also does not hesitate to ask the angel what it was doing or to request the angel to include his name in the list of people who love their fellow beings.
Abou Ben Adhem is stoic. When the angel tells him that his name is not on the list. of those who love God, he is disappointed. Despite this he cheerfully asks that his name be written as one who loves other human beings.
